Interesting coupla weeks. On Nov. 30 Dr. Polun removed 2 bone spur-type protrusions on the left side of the 3rd toe, a toe which had come back scrawnier after the April surgery, despite looking fairly plump after 6 weeks of hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

I wonder if you could get a refresher session of HBO maybe once or twice a month, if that would keep the healthy heft.

In any case, the bones poked through and had to be carved back. A local anesthetic. Virtually no pain afterward for me. A culture showed another staph infection. 10 days of antibiotics seemed to take care of the infection.

Started wearing the sandal again with a heavy red sock...it's almost winter. One passerby called it my Christmas sock.

The infectious disease doctor said there was no sign of infection yesterday -- encouraging.

My new GP today thought the toe looked good too.  Dr. Mohamadi is an endocrinologist too.

My blood sugar has been pretty good, though last week I jumped off the wagon and dove into the workplace candy and cookies. Once I start, Katy bar the door, there's no stopping me.

He suggested a new technique that intrigues me. When the temptations are about, shout, shout, SHOUT:
Don't eat the candy.

I'm gonna try it.

Hope the stitches can come out on Monday so I can steadily go to Wisconsin for Christmas.
